Registered under the Quality standard ISO 9001 since 1998 and Environmental standard ISO 14000 since 2002, Baumfolder has made quality, safety, and environmental concerns a priority. Continuous improvement is an active part of product development, as well as day-to-day operations.
Baumfolder Corporation began as the Liberty Folder Company, founded in Sidney, Ohio. Russell Baum, an accomplished Philadelphia businessman, became a Liberty Dealer in 1935. Mr. Baum sold so many Liberty machines in the eastern United States, that they became known as “Baum” folders. In 1950, Russell Baum became the company’s sole owner.
Throughout Baumfolder Corporation’s history, mergers and acquisitions have played an important role in product development and growth. Heidelberger Druckmaschien AG (Heidelberg), the renowned graphic arts equipment manufacturer, bought Stahl, USA, and with it Baumfolder in 1999.
Now, as a division of Heidelberg, we satisfy a much broader base of customers as a leading producer of equipment for post-press bindery, finishing, mailing and contract assembly.

The “team approach” has resulted in a friendly work environment with open communications where team management, team goal setting and team problem solving are the status quo. Many years ago we began cross-training our workforce for greater efficiency. Today, we manufacture a greater number of systems for a wider variety of clients, so our cross-training program has become vital to the business plan.
Located in a single 135,000 sq. ft. facility in Sidney, Ohio, USA, the entire spectrum of Baumfolder services are under one roof: administrative services, engineering, manufacturing, technical support, training and service parts.
